Colnago Steelnovo: Steel Reinvented for the Modern Rider

When Colnago decides to revisit steel, it’s never out of nostalgia — it’s out of ambition.

The Colnago Steelnovo is the brand’s modern interpretation of the material that shaped Italian cycling heritage, now combined with 3D-printed innovation, contemporary geometry, and the performance standards of today’s road bikes.

This is not a throwback.

This is steel, evolved.

A Legacy Material Reborn

Steel is where Colnago’s history began. From the iconic Super (1968) to the Mexico and Master, steel frames defined the brand’s early identity and created a ride feel cyclists still romanticize today — lively, smooth, and full of character.

The Steelnovo brings that feeling back with a modern touch.

The frame is crafted using specially engineered Columbus tubes paired with fully 3D-printed lugs. Welds are hidden, lines are clean, and the result is a structure combining traditional artistry with advanced Italian manufacturing.

It’s the soul of steel with the precision of 2025 engineering.

Handmade in Italy — One Frame per Day

Colnago produces only 400 Steelnovo frames per year.

Each one requires a full working day to build, reflecting an uncompromising approach to quality and craftsmanship.

Key elements include:

  • Columbus-designed steel tubing
  • Additiva-produced 3D-printed joints and lugs
  • Integrated cable routing
  • A hidden seatpost clamp inside the seat stays
  • Custom 3D-printed nylon headset components

Every detail is engineered, printed, and finished in Italy.

Performance Ready for Modern Roads

Behind its classic silhouette lies fully modern performance:

  • 35 mm tyre clearance for comfort and versatility
  • Carbon racing fork with oversized bearings for precision
  • T47-86 bottom bracket for stiffness and power transfer
  • UDH rear dropout standard for full compatibility with modern drivetrains

Steelnovo is available as a frameset or in two premium complete builds:

  • Shimano Dura-Ace with ENVE wheels
  • Campagnolo Super Record WRL with Bora Ultra wheels

And for 2025, the range adds two new colours:

Light Blue (SNLB) and Pastel Orange (SNPP).

A Steel Bike Designed for the Future

Steel carries memory — the memory of its builder, the road beneath it, and the detail that goes into every weld.

With Steelnovo, Colnago honours that heritage while pushing the material into a new era of performance and design.

The Colnago Steelnovo isn’t just a bike.

It’s the rebirth of a legend, engineered for riders who want more than carbon — riders who want character, craftsmanship, and a story in every kilometre.
